Citi launched a new series of Thank You points cards with no annual fee, Citi Rewards+ and Citi Rewards+ Student. It currently has a sign-up bonus of 15,000 after $1000 of purchase within the first 3 months. It earns 2X ThankYou points at the supermarket and gas stations, for the first $6,000 per year and then 1x point on all other purchases. The best part of this card is, it rounds up the rewards to the nearest 10 points. For example, a $2 coffee will earn 10 ThankYou points, a great value for a smaller purchase. If you make a purchase for $43 at a supermarket, it rounds up to 90 ThankYou points.

When you redeem ThankYou points, you get 10% Points Back on all of your redemptions for the first 100,000 ThankYou Points you redeem per year.

The CitiRewards+ Student card has a sign-up bonus of 2500 points after $500 purchase within the first 3 months.

Upgrade Offer

I hold a Citi Diamond preferred a card, recently received an upgrade offer to Citi Rewards+. It’s a good option to upgrade if you want to apply for any Chase Card to be under 5/24.

Conclusion

This is definitely a great card for a starter as a Student or someone who spends daily for coffee or snacks for less than $5. You convert those spending to a potential 2X to 10X rewards. There are certainly better cards when it comes to earning better rewards in supermarket and gas stations. It would be a good value addition if you got the Citi Premier or the Prestige ThankYou premium cards.
